The ingredients needed to make Pathiri - Rice Bread:
- Take 1 1/2 Cups Rice Roasted Powder
- Get 1 1/2 Cups Water
- Get Salt
Crushed rice is made into a white dough and baked on pans called oadu. Pathiri should not change the colour (off white-ish) so make sure that your pan is not over heated. Rice pathiri, Ari pathiri, Kerala Malabar pathiri. Pathiri is a traditional and authentic food item of Kerala muslims.
Instructions to make Pathiri - Rice Bread:
- Boil water with salt.
- Once water is boiled, slowly add rice powder and stir. Once it is well mixed, switch off the stove and allow the content to cool.
- Before the mixture gets completely cooled, knead it and form a smooth dough.Since the exact amount of water required may slightly change depending upon the rice powder, use some water while kneading the dough if required.(If too sticky,apply some oil on palms,while kneading)
- Form small round balls out of the dough.(Applying some oil on palms while doing this, will be good)
- Flatten the balls, and roll it to thin round pathiris. (Apply rice powder on the rolling board, so that the pathiri will not stick).You can also use a chapati press instead of using chapati roller.
- Heat a flat pan, and cook pathiri on both sides till it's done.
Its a pancake made of rice flour. A popular snack in northern Kerala, meat pathiri is dangerously yummy and rich! Fry the pathiri, adding more ghee if necessary. Sprinkle some sugar if you like it to be slightly sweet. (Malabar Ari Pathiri, Rice Roti, Ari Pathil, Rice Bhakri, Chokha na Rotla, Tandalachi Bhakri, Akki Roti). Ari Pathiri or Ari Pathil is a flat bread made with raw rice flour.
