- Soak chana dal for 1 hour in Lukewarm water. Drain out the water and cook the dal in a pressure cooker til 3-4 whistles and till the dal becomes mushy.
- Once done grind in a mixer jar to remove lumps. Add in a kadhai or non stick pan.
- Switch on flame and add jaggery powder
- Also add the sugar. Mix and cook well until the jaggery has dissolved completely
- When the mixture is thick. Add cardamom powder and mix well.
- Check here for sweetness and add as required. Add some ghee and keep mixing, everything will come together, when done.
- It will form a dough. Let the mixture cool completely
- In the meantime prepare Poli dough by mixing and kneading all ingredients mentioned under the poli section. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
- Make small ball of puran and keep ready
- Pinch a big lemon sized dough and roll elongated thin roti. Keep one ball in centre.
- Cover the puran ball with the poli. With the help of a small katori/ cup cut the poli dough, without touching the poli ball. Remove extra dough.
- Tap with fingers and roll out circular roti evenly by mildly pressing it.
- Roast in hot tawa from both sides. Add ghee and serve hot.
