For today: Pea and Potato Stew. Fragrant and flavorful, this delicious slow cooker stew is an easy way to invigorate a weeknight meal. In the slow cooker combine potatoes, onion, ginger, and garlic. Stir in the peas and chickpeas, turn.

Instructions to make Stew, Peas and Potatoes:
  1. In a hot Sufuria, add the cooking oil and then add the onions and cook for 2minutes.
  2. After 2mins, add the garlic and cook together with the onions until golden brown.
  3. Add the tomatoes and on reduced heat cook until soft to crush together.
  4. Add the potatoes, tumeric, salt and pepper. Gently mix together on reduced heat. Leave to cook for 3mins.
  5. After 3mins, add your one cup of water and leave to boil for 5mins. At this point you can increase your heat.
  6. Afterwards, add your already boiled peas, gently mix together and leave to cook until all the water is dried. It's also okay to leave some soup if you like.
  7. I served mine with Chapati and some slices of avocado. Enjoy!

The seasoning for this stew is very simple, just a ton of smoked paprika and curry powder, plus a little pinch of red pepper flakes for kick. I've made this several times, and have always loved it. We recently discovered that my son is allergic to chick peas. I call it stew but Japanese Meat and Potato Stew is nowhere near the Western style stew. The cooking liquid is based on the usual Japanese flavours of slightly sweetened soy sauce As for peas, I usually use frozen peas by quickly boiling them to defrost and warm up.
