Golfo's tsoureki is one of the most popular of recent trending foods in the world. It’s simple, it’s fast, it tastes yummy. It is enjoyed by millions daily. They’re fine and they look fantastic. Golfo's tsoureki is something which I’ve loved my entire life.

This is one of the most successful recipes for tsoureki that I have made quite a few times. Tsoureki recipe - How to make the perfect Greek Easter bread dough. It is a common secret, that making your own Greek Easter bread (tsoureki) is quite challenging even for the experienced cooks.

To get started with this particular recipe, we have to first prepare a few components. You can cook golfo's tsoureki using 11 ingredients and 14 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.

The ingredients needed to make Golfo's tsoureki:
  1. Take 70 g clarified butter
  2. Prepare 100 g fresh milk
  3. Take 160 g sugar
  4. Take 3 eggs
  5. Take 4 g mahlab powder
  6. Make ready 4 g mastic powder
  7. Prepare 100 g lukewarm water
  8. Prepare 40 g fresh yeast
  9. Get 700 g yellow flour for tsourekia (it might take a bit more)
  10. Prepare 1 egg for brushing
  11. Take slivered almonds

Otherwise, the dough will be quite runny and you will not be able to shape the tsoureki. Tsoureki (pronounced tsoo-REH-kee) is the traditional bread of Greek Easter. It is a rich yeast braided bread flavored with orange and a delightful spice called mahlab (also called mahlepi). Few other recipes - bar the tsoureki - require you to place a whole hard-boiled egg, dyed red and with the shell intact, into a soft dough and bake it.

Instructions to make Golfo's tsoureki:
  1. Warm the butter, sugar, milk mahlab and mastic in a pot. The temperature shouldn't get higher than 50 degrees.
  2. Remove from heat and add the eggs.
  3. Put everything in the mixer bowl and beat them for a while to melt the sugar.
  4. Use another pot to dissolve the yeast in lukewarm water
  5. And add it to the mixer bowl.
  6. Finally, add the flour and knead thoroughly so that the dough doesn't stick on our hands.
  7. Place the dough in a large bowl, cover it with a tablecloth at a warm place and leave it to rise for 3 hours.
  8. Continue by kneading lightly and form it into the shape that you like for tsourekia,
  9. Which you place on the baking tray already lined with baking paper and leave them once more in a warm environment for an hour.
  10. Preheat the oven at 180 degrees.
  11. Mix the egg with a bit of water and lightly brush the surface of each tsoureki.
  12. Sprinkle with the slivered almonds
  13. And bake until they are golden brown and can be easily removed from the baking paper.
  14. If you notice that they brown too much, cover them with aluminum foil.
